United Service of Remembrance

Held at the London Road Cemetery, the United Service of Remembrance brings people together to remember loved ones who have passed away in the previous 2 years. The Mayor’s Chaplain leads the service with poetry, readings and prayers read by Councillors, members of local churches and representatives from the Mayor’s charities.

Normally volunteers from Samaritans and/or Cruse Bereavement Care are available after the service to support visitors.

The service is held on a grassed area in the centre of the cemetery, if the weather is particularly unpleasant then the service will be held in the Cemetery chapel.

Whilst anyone is welcome to join the service, invitations are directly sent to the family of all those who have been interred at the cemetery in the preceding 2 years.
