Freedom of the Town Parade

June 4 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Freedom of the Town is one of the oldest and most meaningful traditions a community can offer, and in Thatcham it carries a deep sense of pride. This honour is being given to 67 MI COY based at Denison Barracks in Hermitage. Recognising their connection with the area and the important role they play in local life, including their attendance at Remembrance Sundays as the permanent military contingent.

The parade will begin on Thatcham High Street at 2pm and proceed to The Broadway, where a formal ceremony will take place. Residents are warmly invited to line the route, cheer on the troops, and be part of this proud occasion.

The event brings people together to show appreciation for their service, their commitment and the support they provide both at home and abroad. The day will include a formal parade through the town, where residents can line the streets, cheer, and celebrate this shared moment of respect.

Freedom of the Town also acts as a reminder of the strong links between Thatcham and the armed forces, shaped over many decades. By presenting this honour, Thatcham marks its gratitude in a warm, public and memorable way. It promises to be a meaningful occasion for everyone involved, filled with pride, tradition and community spirit.
