Councillor Mark Lillycrop was elected Mayor of Thatcham at a special ceremony on Sunday 10th May 2026. Councillor Pemberton has served on Thatcham Town Council for 7 years having first been elected in 2019.

Mr Mayor has appointed his wife Jenny Lillycrop as his Mayoress.

Councillor Petra Pemberton was elected as Deputy Mayor, and appointed her husband Councillor Justin Pemberton as her Consort.

Each year the Mayor names at least one organisation to be their charity for the year and donations are collected at numerous Town Council events throughout the year. For the Civic year 2026-27 Councillor Lillycrop has selected 2 charities to support:  PALS West Berkshire and West Berks Foodbank.

Poster with details of the two mayors charities, PALS West Berkshire and West Berks Foodbank. PALS West Berkshire have been working with children and young people with physical disabilities for over 20 years. They offer a wide variety of social and leisure activities for children and young people aged 5 to 18. Activities take place after school and at weekends in term time, and throughout the week during the holidays. Children and young people are supported at activities by a team of trained volunteers and the PALS manager, who oversees the event, while parents can enjoy a much needed break. In addition, during the school holidays, we offer the opportunity to take part in residential trips for children over 8. West Berks Foodbank is a franchised member of the Trussel Trust. They operate autonomously within a network of 1300+ foodbanks, having begun their charitable work in West Berkshire in 2013. They have supported 2,965 households in the last year. Their main role is to source and distribute much-needed food and essential items to those who need it, alleviating hunger, restoring dignity and reviving hope. When people cannot afford to cook (or heat their home) they can often help with fuel costs. Their Welfare and Benefits Advisor can help those in need with their finances. They also help to reconnect people to their communities, across welfare, housing, medical needs and beyond.
