Thatcham Jubilee Tableau
Thatcham Jubilee Tableau is the vision of the 2022-23 Mayor of Thatcham, Councillor Jeff Brooks.

Inspired by Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign and the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the Thatcham Jubilee Tableau is the vision of the 2022-23 Mayor of Thatcham, Councillor Jeff Brooks. His drive and passion has resulted in a huge Tableau, 6 metres long and 3 metres high, consisting of 45 individual panels, developed by over 50 locally-based crafters.
The scenes have been developed in a wide range of techniques. These include marquetry, felting, watercolour, acrylic, oils, embroidery, cross-stitch, crochet, photography and more. The Tableau was unveiled to the public following Thatcham Town Councils Mayor Making Ceremony on Sunday 14th May 2023, at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall where it now resides in the Jubilee Room.
The Scenes
Fifteen of the scenes are devoted to events in Her Majesty’s life, including:
- a state dinner with the Kennedys
- a trip to China and the Great Wall
- Investiture of Prince Charles as the Prince of Wales in 1969.
Fifteen of the scenes depict events that occurred and influenced the United Kingdom, including:
- Hilary reaching the top of Everest
- the Sixties including the Beatles and the World Cup win
- the 2012 Olympics
- the Pandemic
- the NHS.
The final fifteen scenes detail events that took place across the world such as:
- the Polio vaccines (introducing mass vaccination)
- the Berlin wall (being built and dismantled)
- the launch of the World Wide Web
- the Ukraine war.
