Garden Party During Dementia Action Week

A celebration of support and awareness

Published: 13 May 2024

As part of Dementia Action Week, Thatcham Town Council is hosting a free Garden Party on Friday, May 17th from 9.30am – 12.30pm in the Jubilee Sensory Garden on Brownsfield Road. Open to all, the Garden Party aims to support and raise awareness for individuals and families affected by dementia. Free refreshments can be enjoyed in the garden, whilst listening to live music from local musician Sion Wiley who will be playing acoustic songs from across the decades. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative piece of artwork designed to highlight our community.

Alongside the Party, in the Council Chamber we are hosting a Creative Mindfulness Workshop at 9.30am offering everyone a moment to be present and be in the moment, a tour of the Jubilee Sensory Garden with regular gardener Sally Mitchell at 11am, and an inspiring talk by Jane Fletcher at 12pm on how to record a life’s worth of memories with loved ones. All the activities are free to attend and open to everyone. Free tickets for the workshop and talk can be reserved in advance from the Thatcham Town Council website.
