SUMMARY:KidsFest Thatcham
DESCRIPTION:KidsFest Thatcham is a FREE event organised by Thatcham Town Council\, aimed at bringing families and the community together for a day of entertainment\, activities\, and fun. Taking place in the town centre on Thursday 29th of August from 10am to 3pm we hope to provide Thatcham’s residents with a day packed full of fun before heading back to school. \nSt Mary’s church will open its doors to the wonderful team from The Watermill Theatre who will be running several free drama workshops and theatre craft sessions. Keep an eye on Thatcham Town Council’s Facebook page for how to sign up for these exciting sessions\, hurry as spaces will be limited! \nTurnfields Recreation Ground will host the Howden Under 5s Zone with a menagerie of inflatables for under 5s\, and with an ice cream van and Juggling Jake who will be running circus workshops and showing off his incredible skills\, it’s the perfect place to kick off your family fun day out. \nThe Broadway will be home to a variety of arts and crafts activities\, from t-shirt printing with Berkshire Print Makers\, to a doodle zone with Magpie and the Mob. There will be a live theatre performance from Four Eyed Theatre\, who will take to the stage with their short interactive play about mental health. Be sure to grab something to eat from one of Thatcham’s fabulous food outlets\, then take a seat in our picnic area\, relax\, and enjoy some live music! \nThe High Street will be a hub of activity with gift and community stalls\, Face painting\, Games and of course an Ice Cream Van. \nMake sure you take part in the very special superhero teddy bear treasure trail. Keep your eye out for bears hiding in shop windows and note down each of the letters they hold. Find the hidden word and be in with the chance of winning a top-secret prize. \nDon’t miss out on entering our superhero fancy dress competition! Come dressed as your favourite superhero OR create your very own! SUMMARY:Berkshire AfroFest
DESCRIPTION:Afrofest\, a one-day family festival celebrating the strong and growing African community in Berkshire\, is being held in Thatcham for the first time on Saturday 10th August 2024\, from 1pm – 8pm. \nThis vibrant one-day family event is set to bring a taste of African culture to Thatcham with an afternoon of free food\, music\, and fun for the whole family. Berkshire Afrofest is led by Avila Group\, an African fusion restaurant and food manufacturing business based in Reading\, and Community United West Berkshire and is Avila’s way of giving back to the community whilst sharing the rich and diverse African cultures. \nThames Valley Police and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service will be in attendance with their vehicles. \nThe whole community is very welcome to attend. Free tickets can be reserved below. Free food can only be guaranteed with a reserved ticket.
