The 1972 Local Government Act requires every town and parish council to hold an Annual Town Meeting between March and June, inviting all electors of the town to attend. The meeting is open to the public, and all Thatcham residents registered on the electoral roll can vote and raise issues they are passionate about.

To ensure a comprehensive response, questions should be submitted to enquiries@thatchamtowncouncil.gov.uk by 4.30pm on Thursday, 8th May 2025.

The Annual Town Meeting, convened by the Council Chair (Mayor of Thatcham), is not a council committee meeting but a meeting of the town’s electors. The meeting provides a review of the Council’s year, a platform to debate significant local issues, and a chance to celebrate community achievements. Partner agencies often participate, and local groups or organisations that have received grants or sponsorship are invited to present how the funding was used and share their future aspirations. An invited guest speaker may also provide updates on matters of local interest.

The meeting is an excellent opportunity to network, exchange information, and gain a deeper understanding of Thatcham’s community.

The meeting will be recorded and available to view on YouTube.
